Why ARMR Jewellery Resists Tarnish (And What That Actually Means)

Let’s be real. Nobody wants jewellery that turns green, fades fast or needs babying every time you wear it. You want pieces that can keep up. Jewellery that still looks sharp after a full day’s graft, a night out, or a day at the beach. That’s why tarnish resistance isn’t just a buzzword for us at ARMR. It’s part of how we build every single piece.

Here’s how it works, and why it matters.

What Does ‘Tarnish-Resistant’ Actually Mean?

Tarnishing is what happens when some metals, like cheap alloys or untreated silver, react with air, moisture, sweat or even your skin. The result is that dull, dirty look — sometimes even green marks on your skin. Not exactly ideal.

When we say our jewellery is tarnish-resistant, we mean the steel doesn’t react with air, moisture or sweat the way those cheaper metals do. With normal wear and simple care, your chain, ring or bracelet is designed to keep its shine.

The Materials Matter

At the core of every ARMR piece is 316L stainless steel. It’s a grade widely used in jewellery, watches and marine and medical applications because it’s strong, stable and highly corrosion-resistant. It’s made to last.

We use that same steel in all our silver-toned jewellery. For gold pieces, we don’t just slap on a coating and hope for the best. We use an 18k gold PVD coating — a high-tech process that bonds a thin layer of gold to the steel. PVD is generally harder and more durable than traditional plating, so it’s designed to resist flaking and fading. Like any coating, it can wear over time with heavy friction, so a little care goes a long way.

Water, Sweat and Real Life

Let’s be honest. You don’t take your jewellery off every time you jump in the shower or hit the gym. And you shouldn’t have to.

That’s why ARMR jewellery is built for real life. Showers, workouts and a day at the beach are all fine. Our pieces are designed to resist tarnish, water and sweat, and they’re made to be worn, not tucked away. After salt water or chlorine, give them a rinse, and a wipe with a soft lint-free cloth brings the shine back.

Comfortable on Skin

We know how frustrating it is when jewellery stains or irritates your skin. That’s why we use 316L stainless steel, a popular choice for sensitive skin. Everyone’s different, so if you have a known metal allergy, check with your doctor before you buy.

Low Maintenance, High Impact

You don’t need a jewellery box full of cleaners and cloths to keep ARMR pieces looking their best. A gentle wipe with a soft lint-free cloth now and then is more than enough.

Because when jewellery is made right, it doesn’t demand attention.

So, Why Tarnish Resistance Matters

It’s not just about looks. It’s about confidence. Knowing you can wear your favourite chain every day without worrying it’ll turn on you. Knowing your ring is designed not to leave a green circle around your finger. Knowing you can train, travel or take a dip, and a quick wipe is all it needs.

Tarnish resistance isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s a non-negotiable. Especially when you’re building a collection of everyday jewellery that’s meant to go the distance.
