What is PVD coating?

PVD stands for Physical Vapour Deposition. Sounds fancy, but the process is simple in principle:

The piece is placed in a vacuum chamber
Gold particles are vaporised into a fine mist using heat or electrical charge
That mist bonds at a molecular level to the surface of the jewellery
The result? A thin but incredibly strong coating of gold that fuses with the base metal

This isn’t your basic gold plating — PVD is harder, more durable, and far less likely to wear off.

If your jewellery develops a craftsmanship defect, we’ll replace it once - whenever you need it, for life.

Our jewellery is 100% sweat and waterproof, heat resistant, 10x stronger than gold-plated jewellery and perfume/lotion safe.

We use the highest grade stainless steel which is a highly durable, 100% recyclable metal. Its properties mean that it does not oxidise or rust, is hypoallergenic, doesn't scratch easily and will not tarnish.

At ARMR, sustainability is approached through material, craftsmanship, longevity and responsible sourcing. We believe jewellery should be created to last, both in quality and design, rather than follow fast-moving trends.

That's why we chose premium grade stainless steel as the base metal for our pieces. Premium grade stainless steel is an incredible metal that is super durable but also 100% recyclable.

WHAT IS YOUR JEWELLERY MADE FROM?

Our jewellery is made from highly polished premium grade stainless steel. Our gold pieces use real 18K gold infused coating - not plated. Our pieces are incredibly hard wearing and will not chip like gold plated jewellery.

DO I NEED TO TAKE SPECIAL CARE OF MY JEWELLERY?

Not really. Our pieces are super durable, waterproof and sweat-proof. We wear our ARMR pieces at the gym, hiking, swimming, showering - all sorts. You can clean them with a lint cloth to rebuff them and keep their shine but other than that, you're good.

Obviously, don't go nuts and start scraping your jewellery across rocks and hitting it with a hammer. If you keep to normal day to day wear then it'll be fine.

WILL IT TURN MY SKIN GREEN?

Our pieces are made with premium grade stainless steel which is classed as hypoallergenic (meaning it's more friendly on your skin) and means there is extremely low risk to any allergic reaction.

Every one is different, so we cannot guarantee you won't have a reaction, but from what we know about the material we use the risk is incredibly small.
